"Former Republican Party of Florida Chairman Jim Greer has been claiming for months that state party members engineered a new law to suppress voter turnout, falsely touting voter fraud concerns to advance their mission. Now, other former Republicans and consultants are backing Greer up, The Palm Beach Post reports.
Greer, who is under indictment and accused of funneling campaign funds from the Republican Party, has been claiming that state Republicans supported a law (HB 1355)which, in part, curtailed early votingsimply as a means to stymie the Democratic vote.
Staff and consultants "never came in to see me and tell me we had a (voter) fraud issue," Greer told the newspaper. "It's all a marketing ploy." "

(14,337 posts)I was an Independent for over 30 years in NYS and always was blasted with campaign stuff, but not as much as a registered Democrat in Florida. I got far more campagin mail from REPUBLICANS than my Republican husband. Maybe they thought, if they had a way of knowing, that as a white, married, woman they needed MY vote more? Don't know, but it was amusing, and of course, didn't work.

(2,237 posts)But we don't have an impartial media that acts for the public good. We have a media concerned about the risk of offending 50% of the population by reporting the truth when the truth isn't on the side of that 50%. So democracy suffers.
