Democratic coalition files complaint against FBI Director for interfering in the election

The Democratic Coalition Against Trump filed a complaint with the Department of Justice Office of Professional Responsibility on Friday against FBI Director James Comey for interfering in the Presidential election, following the FBI’s decision to open up an investigation into Secretary Clinton’s emails this close to Election Day. Federal employees are forbidden from participating in political activities under the Hatch Act.

“It is absolutely absurd that FBI Director Comey would support Donald Trump like this with only 11 days to go before the election,” said Scott Dworkin, Senior Advisor to the Democratic Coalition Against Trump. “It is an obvious attack from a lifelong Republican who used to serve in the Bush White House, just to undermine her campaign. Comey needs to focus on stopping terrorists and protecting America, not investigating our soon to be President-Elect Hillary Clinton.”

... after reading political sites, FB, etc., today.

While the Repubs are celebrating HRC's imminent downfall, her supporters are absolutely galvanized. I've been seeing it all day - Hill's supporters are not only NOT wavering in their commitment, they are upping donations to her campaign, and committing to more hours canvassing, phone-banking, etc.

If anyone anywhere thought that this piece of tripe was going to damage Hill's election, they are no doubt kicking themselves right now for being THAT stupid - because if that was the intent, their plan has totally backfired

There really isn't much for them here except this story that may last one or two or three days but it's really f****** pissed off Democrats, and that translates into motivation to vote!

Former DOJ spokesman blasts Comey after email letter

snip//

A former director of the Justice Department’s office of public affairs said Friday that FBI Director James Comey’s letter to Congress announcing the review of more evidence in the investigation of Hillary Clinton’s private email server constituted “such an inappropriate disclosure.”

Matthew Miller, who served at the Department of Justice under Attorney General Eric Holder, blasted Comey's move in a 14-post spree on Twitter Friday afternoon, ripping the FBI director for his practices throughout the entire Clinton investigation. Miller said Comey “flagrantly violated DOJ rules” by holding a press conference in July to announce that he was recommending against charges for the former secretary of state, a decision the FBI director said at the time that he made in the interest of transparency.

“But today's disclosure might be worst abuse yet," Miller tweeted, adding that in his experience, the Justice Department “goes out of its way to avoid publicly discussing investigations” when elections are close.

Miller said those precautions are not just limited to public statements, writing that the department often avoids sending subpoenas or taking other steps that might become public until an election is over.

19. Preference dominates GOTV or motivation

GOTV is nice but it is wildly overstated. It is hardly worth 2%, the conventional wisdom allotment. Do the math. It's unbelievable how much 2% accounts for in some states. GOTV accomplishes that type of gap? Hilarious.

Motivation is more relevant in midterms than presidential years.

We don't know if this changes preference, or how much. Preference is always the most significant variable, and nothing is a close second. When result differs from polling it was preference that was misjudged beforehand, far beyond GOTV or motivation impact.

I'm not a believer in reverse motivation or reverse discrimination or blessing in disguise or anything similar. Sure they may be applicable in isolated cases but I'll always default to more often than not. When you understand big picture probability you can stumble onto the correct conclusion without much effort. This was a poor day. Hillary merely required normalcy.

as it is angering and rallying the Dem base, who sees this for the partisan witchhunt that it always has been.

This was never going to be easy, and we have to fight hard to ensure this facist fuckface is thoroughly defeated.

This entire election has been one big false equivalence. Trump is historically unqualified, corrupt and dangerous individual who represents an existential threat to democracy itself. He doesn't even belong on the same stage with someone like Hillary.

It is also a sign of utter desperation when the FBI director has to pull a political stunt. They are in fear of the big blue wave taking Congress away from them.

Yes, I was already going to vote for her, but now I'll be adding an "F U" when I cast my ballot & I'll do everything I can to get partisan hacks like Chaffetz out of Congress, even donating what I can to help his opponent, which I've never done before.

of machines in black neighborhoods, it just motivated the voters even more to stand in line for however many hours necessary to to get their vote cast.

Evidence of attempts to suppress Dem votes or to swing the election with partisan leaks like this might help counter the GOP's voter suppression efforts this time, too.
