Does anyone work with elections? Question from another thread here at DU

Trump was at a rally here in Colorado. He told the crowd that if they needed a mail in ballot, they can stop at the booth in the back and get another and the one mailed to them would be voided.

Has anyone heard of a campaign rally offering ballots to people? If those of you who have worked elections and how ballots can truly, legally be distributed, let me know. Because I will report this to the Secretary of State with the video if it is indeed unlawful.

Here's the video and the comment happens within the first 1 - 1:50 minutes.

You should probably just ask the Colorado Secretary of State. Elections are run by the states. scarletwoman Oct 2016 #3
WTF? That sounds scammish, like seeing if they can get someone to have their vote counted twice Fast Walker 52 Oct 2016 #5

There is an official polling place at that site, so it's not Trump's personal polling place.

If you look on the list for Jeffco Fairgrounds (Golden) that is where his orange ass is speaking.

No one outside of Colorado will know the correct answer.

Third time is the charm. OP should be removed to avoid stirring up hysteria needlessly.

have done in the past but not at present and NOT in Colorado. Most guidelines vary by state rules. pretty much everything varies by state and local guidelines. The way the example here is worded I suspect the verification is with the "official return envelope". Here in Florida, I have to sign it and signature must match their on-file signature for me. If it doesn't match, they must notify me and I can see if it was my actual ballot or some secondary person doing something illegal. There is a verification process. They would not just process all of them.

I looked on web for Colorado as an example. Appears they have mail-in, drop off locations and you can get a replacement ballot but the ballot MUST be submitted in official envelope.

I have copied and pasted example here from one site - for your example:

"Drive-up, drop off or hand deliver your completed mail ballot at any convenient Ballot Drop Off Location.
You must seal your ballot in the official return envelope.
If you need a new or replacement ballot, please contact the Elections Division at 303-271-8111 or any Voter Service and Polling Center in Jefferson County will be able to assist you with most of your voting needs.

Most everyone is on mail in ballot in Denver Metro so I didn't think there were that many walk in polling locations even available. My kids' school will be closed *on* election day for a polling location but nothing before that for early voting.
