2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumFrom a purely strategic perspective it would be best for Comey to clarify or say nothing.
Revenge is sweet but winning is more important. If President Obama or Attorney General Lynch get involved it will look like they are politically motivated. It sucks but that's the way it is !
Again, I want revenge but victory is more important.
I do think prominent House and Senate Democrats should keep the pressure on Comey.

(15,373 posts)should keep the pressure on Comey, but continue doing everything they can to elect/re-elect down-ticket Dem candidates.
Even with this latest GOPer idiocy, I am confident that the Clinton-Kaine ticket will win - the only question is the size of their winning margin. So they do not need to give this Comey crap more than lip service. More importantly, they and their surrogates also need to be helping down-ticket Dems as much as possible.
After all, Trump is the gift that keeps giving every time he opens his mouth. It's hard to lose "Teh Stupid" when you're as full of it as Trump is.
As the saying goes, "revenge is a dish best served cold." Let Comey stew in the stink of his own juices for awhile. If Dems can get the Presidency, get a Senate majority, gain some governorships while protecting those who are already Dems, and increase Dem House membership (I would love to see a Dem House majority, but without some major miracle, I doubt that will happen), Comey will have ample reason to be looking constantly over his shoulder and will likely resign of his own volition ASAP after 9 November.
It would also be VERY sweet revenge if every one of those House GOPer Committee chairs who received Comey's letter loses their seat.
