After this election ...

We have seen calls from "prominent republicans" calling for the modern gop to change ... to join the American populace in the 21st century. The modern gop's response is to say, "we must 'moderate our rhetoric'; but not abandon our principles."

It struck me that the modern gop is a lot like a serial wife-beater, immediately after his wife has left him. He, proudly announces that he has had an epiphany and promises that he'll change. And while begging her to come back, he promises that he'll no longer hit her, while insisting that he continues in his expectation that she remain barefoot, pregnant, house-bound and subserviant. And he is shocked that she does not return home.

They just don't get it because, like the wife-beater, they don't see themselves as having the behavioral problem; rather, the only problem they see is that their wife is no longer in the home.
