I used to field a lot of, "how can you stand it" type questions around here. LOL Just wanted to let you know that hubby announced the other night that he is voting a straight Dem ticket here in ME's 2nd. (And so am I.)
Thanks, everyone! He is a very bright man who thinks for himself. He listens to NPR and watches CNN and MSNBC, especially the evening line-up. Much more moderate than when we were younger and more involved in church culture.

(30,481 posts)I know some people from a conservative evangelical background who are wonderful. Many of them are out doing good works every day. It is a part of their beliefs.

(102,372 posts)I have been sort of in hiding the past several weeks, even online (and as you may have noticed, even away from the other FITNESS/DIET related website we usually share)... It has been devastating to find friends, colleagues, and others supporting Trump (I don't talk politics with them, but somehow their RW views/support does come out). I just feel lke I can't open my mouth or even post most places without encountering unpleasantness, so I will continue to be largely absent until Nov. 9, I guess. I've had some bad encounters that have been both unintentional and really jarring...
Glad to see you though!

He may be from a conservative evangelical background, but he's also intelligent! After all, he did marry you!
This is great news and I'm thrilled to hear it.

(50,254 posts)This is the sort of voter that should be a lock for Trump and the 'Thugs, so it's great news that Trump doesn't have his vote.
If this is happening on a widespread scale, that is something to be happy about.
Can't you just be happy that we might be getting some votes Dems normally don't get?

Where I work I'm viewed as a flamin' liberal and border line communist.

(46,082 posts)He voted for Reagan. He considered himself an independent but voted conservative. In 2004, he was unhappy that I had a primary ballot with great candidates on it, so he registered as Democrat. I still have the card we got in confirmation.
Eventually, he got to be a better liberal than me. I used to trust him to fill out my sample ballots for me.

(64 posts)I made some calls into the 2nd District for the Dems from Portland last week. Out of 200 or so calls, only 15-20 actually picked up. In my small call list - of mostly un-enrolled voters and a smattering of Greens, Dems and Reps - the vote was pretty much split Dem or Rep straight tickets, 1 vote for Stein (+ down ballot Democrats) and 2 for Johnson (and mostly down ballot Republicans).
Here's to a solid Democrat wave in Maine and across the country! We need smart decision-making, progress and sanity in our state and national capitals! All things the Republicans typically won't or can't deliver on! Thanks to your husband for seeing that!!

(6,335 posts)What's the old quote?: 'If You Are Not a Liberal at 25, You Have No Heart. If You Are Not a Conservative at 35 You Havent become a cranky old fossil" Something like that.

(11,155 posts)"Christian" talk about voting for Trump, on the radio or TV. I remember a simple phrase, by their works you will know them.
By Trumps works you will know him!
By Hillary's works you will know her!
Comparing the two it is Hillary all the way.
