2016 Postmortem

Red State:...snip...
This last election was a hard loss of all of us, even those of us who were never Romney fans. I think we all realized the limitless ability to harm the nation that Barack Obama and his minions represents. Be that as it may, the people have spoken (the bastards) and we are saddled with this guy for another four years.
If we are going to move beyond this we have to face the facts. We were out hustled. They turned out their base and we couldnt be bothered to turn out ours, much less do what it takes to win uncommitted voters. We lost. They won. And the nation will suffer because of it.
What did not happen was any stealing of the election. No one denies that there were irregularities in some places but the sum total of the allegations do not reach Kennedyesque proportions where they actually affected the outcome in any material way. This is nonsense and just as silly when people on our side make the claim as when the left howled about Diebold machines giving the 2004 election to President George W. Bush (President George W. Bush, my gosh that sounds so beautiful today).
Dear me, I hope it's not catching...

Except for--
" I think we all realized the limitless ability to harm the nation that Barack Obama and his minions represents."
That gets my goat. I am not a minion.

(31,849 posts)Yes, we did! We did turn-out our base. But, I'm going to point out to you, what should be obvious to anyone that observed this election ... you DID turn-out your base and it proves that your base is an ever shrinking demographic and your governing philosophies are repugnant to an ever increasing segment of America.

(5,756 posts)NO, NO, NO you ass wipes. Yes, you were out hustled and voter turnout was greater than you predicted.
But all of that was due to the horrible policies you espoused and the horrible candidate you put forth. No one liked Willard. Not even your own GOP base.
You had a policy message that sucked and a candidate that sucked. That's why you lost.

(478 posts)The harm Obama will do to. Spare me this line of Bull. Ever problem that we as Americans face has either been cause or made worst by conservative BS and they never seem able to learn from there many past failures. What they have to offer America is nothing. All they know how to do is lie about everything under the sun. There is no sanity to be found on the right at all.

"allegations do not reach Kennedyesque proportions"
What a load of oft-repeated unmitigated bullshit. JFK won the electoral college 303 to 219, FFS. The popular vote means nothing, NADA. And JFK did not even need Illinois' electoral votes to cross the 270 threshhold. Goddamnit, but I get sick of this shit.
