2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumI am so grateful to all the people standing in long lines in order to vote.
In my precinct, voting during the day, I never had more than a dozen people in front of me. Over decades.
And now in Washington we have mail-in voting for everyone. We just fill out ballots at home and stick them in the mail or in a special ballot box.
So when I see voters standing in lines with dozens of people in front of them, or hear of people standing in line for more than an hour, I am in AWE.
You should NOT have to do this. These long lines are a form of voter suppression. But I am so grateful to all the stubborn Americans who are determined to vote no matter what.
THANK YOU ALL!

(91 posts)I voted on the first day of early voting here in FL. 10/24. I was so excited to do this. I only waited about 1/2 hour. Blue all the way down ballot. I just wish Patrick Murphy could beat Rubio.

(1,494 posts)I want to thank all of those early votes standing in line last night until...what time?...to cast their vote. That was so amazing and inspirational.
I vote by mail in Oregon...but I'd stand in line all f'cking day and night to cast my ballot, if I had to.

(5,257 posts)Heroes, every one of them. We did VBM Wednesday night here in California but I share your admiration for the boundless commitment of those wonderful people. (Plus +1,000 if they're Democrats!) Great post.
