my husband and I did go see the Moody Blues, they're older, but still pretty good. Aretha Franklin is also going there. Brought back memories......

Basically, an OP that assumes everybody shares the same context they do (as if they were sitting on their couch or holding their keyboard for them) is unnecessary.

An OP that is content free and simply expostulates a wild approval of disapproval without even a brief explanation or discussion is an OP that has zero depth and is unnecessary.

There were some years when I volunteered my home for a polling place.

For a couple of years, going to the polls was a simple matter of waking up and walking into my living room.

I've heard of people voting in neighbor's houses or in their neighborhoods but I've never experienced it myself.

uses a family's garage as the polling place. They have done so for many years. It can get cold there, so the family supplies hot tea, coffee and cocoa for the poll workers.

I love DU, but couldn't we all get behind a a bit of consolidation? Do we really need ten different OPs on the same exact same news item? And, yeah, a lot of OPs would fit nicely as a reply to an already existing thread.

Maybe it's just me and my OCD...

More new threads entitled:

Hillary Wins!

Hillary is the Winner!

Hillary is President!

Just as I Predicted, Hillary Wins! and

Winner is Hillary!

might be considered less 'necessary.'

I'll be doing an all-night TV program on the election on German TV from about midnight to 7:00 AM (6PM to 1 AM Eastern time).

However, I WILL have a VERY cool video for you all. Look for the announcement from either Skinner or someone else as soon as the election is called. I won't be able to post during that time.

German radio had an all-night panel with German reporters in studio, one on the phone from the States, and some "Republican" who was really a rich German who had lived in the USA. He was on the phone from Berlin, and hung up VERY early in the program!

I heartily support this sentiment!

As it is, there are are too many OPs that are just idle thoughts with no content.

Good suggestion, hopefully people will use some restraint tonight.

Nor is it unnecessary, in my opinion (though that may be debatable). I don't expect it to solve the problem, but planting the thought may help to reduce it.
