(26,060 posts)but just asked my sister who is heading to the polls right now to find out if it's legal to photograph yourself with your filled in ballot in NY. I suspect a lot of people are going to want to to that today.

(51,122 posts)New York: Don't take a picture of your ballot. Simple.

A selfie without the ballot seems to be ok, though.

(13,783 posts)I've heard about this in more than one state. I don't see the logic.

(12,633 posts)It's to prevent the buying/selling of votes. Without a picture how would the buyer know who the seller actually voted for? Would you take the word of someone who was willing to sell his vote.

(26,060 posts)I would have liked to have that momento. Thanks for the info.

(26,060 posts)It's optical scan so just tables with dividers. I sincerely do miss our huge, clunky lever machines with the curtains. That satisfying sound when you open the curtain and feel your vote has been counted. Sigh.

(3,245 posts)I do know coming into work today the couple polling places I passed (shortly after opening) had longer that what I've seen in the past lines for voting. Also, my work place is located in a polling place and when I got in, there was a line. That hasn't happened that I can recall.

(58,670 posts)pretty impressive. They do it old school, with aggressive GOTV efforts of the kind that have kind of fallen out of fashion lately.
Not too worried about the Philly results.

(15,286 posts)From my time working the polls, I know there will Dem party officials around to each poll every few hours to record a count of Ds and Rs that have voted. They don't look at any names, just ask the election board for a breakdown of Ds and Rs.
Brady is predicting a 460k+ lead out of the city.

(2,091 posts)I voted this morning in Florida and as people were walking in to vote, we were all asked if we had a cell phone on us. They were "held" until you voted and was leaving the polling place. Wish I could have taken a picture of my ballot. A great momento for history.

(16,230 posts)I don't think that there were even a dozen people in line. It was around 11:30, hopefully that was the reason and people will come out after work.

(3,245 posts)I work in Norristown and yeah, the morning rush was alot bigger than I've seen before and it's settled down to what it normally is (no wait).

(16,230 posts)There are two polling places there. The auditorium is 1-3. The hallway behind behind the auditorium is 1-2.

(534 posts)I'm not a native Spanish speaker, so I'm no sure whether Spanish has fixed genders for titles or whether they are fluid depending upon the gender of the title holder.
Thus, would it be El Presidente Hillary Clinton or La Presidenta Hillary Clinton?
