Best of luck to everybody here who only have today to vote!!
I've been saying for a long time here I can't imagine how states like Penn and NY, with their large population, could possibly expect everyone to vote in just one day anymore.
We all know that the more people who vote in an election, the better it is for us Dems, but also the more fair it is for everyone whatever their political leanings might be.
I realize some people like the tradition of voting on Election Day and that people sometimes bring friends, older folks who may need help or in some cases - relatives voting for their very first time - and all that's awesome.
But I think expecting everyone to vote in one day disenfranchises at least some people and when you throw in the voter suppression so evident in some places, chances are a significant number of people lose this basic right we have as citizens.
I can't imagine anyone but Repugs being against more chances to vote in an election, especially on a Federal level, and wonder why there haven't been more efforts toward some type of standard in national elections. Just making Election Day a National Holiday would surely help and giving everyone say, a two week period in which to cast their ballots would probably give everyone who wanted a chance to participate in our representative democracy.
The current mish-mosh of state regulations regarding elections is crazy. Allowing individuals states to run elections, especially Federal ones is crazy but I don't know what can be done about this.
Anyway, Best of luck to all voting on this beautiful Autumn day!!
I know nobody here, however arduous the task becomes will allow anyone or anything to stop them from casting their ballot in this incredibly important election!
