Voting shouldn't involve waiting in line like in 1978 to purchase Stones' tickets

People out since 5 this morning, lining up to vote? Are you kidding? What's next, staying out overnight sleeping in tents? This isn't about getting Stones or Zeppelin tickets in the 1970's, where you had to go through nonsense like that to even get a ticket. This is a presidential election, for goodness sakes. We've got to be better than this and make voting much quicker and easier for voters everywhere.

Agree, but there was a lot of fun to be had in those concert ticket lines! Chasing Dreams Nov 2016 #10

lose local and state elections. The local and state politicians make voting what it is.

What are we going to do in 2018? Will we stay home and say there is nothing on the ballot to vote for?

We have our voting methods in our hands. We don't vote for Dems we get repubs making the rules.

I love seeing people participating in the process, but these long lines are a symptom of the GOP push to suppress the vote, something which is allegedly sacred in this country. It's sickening to me that these state and local politicians have succeeded, without push back in some cases, in suppressing the vote of those who would likely oppose them.

and I ended up with two tickets in the front row of the balcony, quite close to the stage, for $10 apiece.

Great concert, "Some Girls" tour.

and there was no wait or line when I voted this morning.

Stones played FT Worth in 78 at Will Rogers, I believe. Seats only a few thousand. It was like winning the lottery to get a ticket.

we do VBM here in WA and it's great. Perhaps not for everybody, but I love it.

States need to be coerced into fixing this problem, and especially in poor and minority neighborhoods when such things are obviously targeted to suppress the vote of "undesireables." Voting should be secure and relatively easy.

Wouldn't you rather people have the drive to camp out, lined around the block, to make sure they get their vote in as opposed to, say, Black Friday or the new iPhone or the new Star Wars TRAILER? Just sayin'...

Don't get me wrong, I hear ya. I'm all for taking the inconvenience out but I actually find it heartwarming that folks are that willing to put their power to use. I'll never forget the shock and immediate thrill back in 2008 when early morning voters were lined up down the block at my polling place--I had a VERY good feeling at that point that Obama's got this.

But getting back to your gripe, I think they should hold Election Day on weekends OR declare it a holiday, IMHO.
