2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumTrump voter dissed at my precinct this am by the poll workers
Some woman had a Trump/Pence hat and button on while waiting in line to vote. The poll workers informed her that she would need to remove those things. They explained that there is no electionering at polling sites.
Her response: "I'm a law-abiding citizen!" (ah, poor, oppressed R!)
Their response: "Then you'll have no problem following the law and removing your hat and button."
Of course, she had to argue some more with them, but when they made it clear she wouldn't be allowed to vote if she didn't remove the swag, she relented.
This is what the country is up against.
In any case, the poll workers said that turnout has been HUGE this morning. The biggest ever (this is in Lake Forest, CA, so that could mean Trump voters, though most of the voters were women). My daughter voted in her first GE today, which earned cheers and a round of applause from the poll workers. The wife and I were very proud.
Waited 25 minutes in line. There were no lines for the primaries.
Oh, yeah: that's three more votes for Hillary Clinton!

(21,056 posts)She's told by election workers the law and she still wants to break it! And, of course, how many elections has she been in where you can wear your campaign propaganda to the precinct???
Deplorable.

(1,865 posts)and saw the same thing this morning. Lived here for 12 years and never so such a long line at the voting place. I figure since it's South OC that bodes well for Trump but you never know. I would love a sneak victory in the OC for Hillary.

My kids graduated from ANHS. We would have stayed in AV, but we were renting and our landlord needed to move back into the house. Couldn't find anything reasonable in AV so we ended up in LF.

(8,419 posts)They added at least one more polling place and we had lines of about 50 people. Will be interesting to see what increased turnout means.

(25,862 posts)but she really wasn't being dissed. Just required to follow the law, self-proclaimed law abiding citizen that she is.
That experience is in great contrast to this:

(5,106 posts)In my state (PA) you have to stay ten feet away from the polling building. Of course, no campaign literature is allowed inside. All states that I know of have similar laws. Hadn't that woman ever voted before? She was breaking the law, period.

(13,435 posts)Eh, I wouldn't say the voter was "dissed"; it sounds like the poll workers were quite respectful, if forceful when pushed.
