GOP Insiders Say Turnout Operation Insufficient

“Republican strategists on Monday dumped all over their party’s voter turnout operation, calling it insufficient to the task and lagging behind Hillary Clinton’s machine,” the Washington Examiner reports.

“Some of the criticism was directed at Donald Trump. The Republican nominee de-valued field and data activities and in unusual fashion delegated voter turnout almost entirely to the Republican National Committee.”

“The RNC also came under fire for its performance, however, although some of the veteran GOP political operatives that spoke to the Washington Examiner said the party did as well as could be expected under the circumstances.”

Essentially Church Ladies knocking on doors and making phone call chains (I'll call two, they'll call two, etc.). I'm wondering if that group is aging out or if they couldn't muster the enthusiasm?

He and the RNC squabbled over who was supposed to do what and nothing really was built. Trump thought, like Bernie thought, that huge rallies was all the voter outreach needed. Both were very wrong. The ground game is important. Seasoned veterans on the ground, knocking on doors, phone banking, fund raising -- that stuff is critically important.

Trump ignored all that. He is a loser.

Nobody wanted to be part of the ground game. Imagine fielding all of the insults and backlash. It's easy to stand up for Hillary. The repukes have been lying about her for years and we're well-equipped to defend her with the truth. But the donald? Not so much. Nobody wants to go there. He's hopelessly f-ed up as a human being. Indefensible behavior. Nobody has the stamina to try to get out the vote and end up facing people who know trump for what he is.
