Congratulations Republicans!

Okay. Trump won... congratulations Mr. Trump and all of your cheering supporters. Republicans held the senate and the house. Congratulations Republicans. Guess what guys? You own this now. It is all yours to do with as you see fit. No one can stop you and no one else will get the credit or blame. You can no longer accuse the black man in the Whitehouse or the nasty woman in the pantsuit for your perceived slights and personal failures.

The clock starts ticking in January. I want everyone to remember the promises made; he's going to build a wall and make Mexico pay for it. He's going to deport 10 million non-documented aliens and do it quickly. He's going to defeat ISIS in 30 days. He is going to repeal Obamacare and replace it with the best and cheapest insurance you have ever seen. He is going to nominate judges who will overturn Roe v Wade and Obergefell v Hodges, annulling gay marriages and allow states to enact laws making homosexuality a crime. He is going to balance the budget by giving massive tax cuts to his wealthy friends. He is going to solve the problems of inner city crime and violence. He is going to erase the deficit and negotiate a deal on the national debt. He is going to support our cops and troops big league and improve veteran health care and benefits. He is going to rebuild our infrastructure and airports the only way he knows how, magnificently, beautifully and under budget. He is going to bring back manufacturing jobs and improve the financial situation of the working class like you have never seen.

He is going to make American great again!

But don't be surprised suckers, I mean supporters, if he does to you what he has done to the other people in his life who he has made grandiose promises too. Don't be surprised when everything he has promised gets stripped away bit by bit. Don't be caught off guard when he stiffs you and then tells you to sue him or go fuck yourself. Don't be mad when he reneges on all his promises and leaves you out in the cold and he really only does things that benefit one person, Donald J. Trump. He has done this his entire life, ask his two former wives. Ask the dozen or so woman he sexually groped. Ask hundreds of contractors and employees he refused to pay. Ask the thousands of people ripped off by his fake university.

The only thing that gives me hope in all this is that Donald Trump is such a brazen liar and con man, that he may not do any of the terrible things he said. He may slip back into the democrat and "strong pro-choice" person he once was. When he has the power and no one can take it from him, he may go back to supporting gay rights and gun control. For the first time in his seventy years of life he may think of how his decisions affect people outside of himself, but I doubt it. He is in debt to racists, bigots, homophobes, xenophobes, Russia, and the KKK. They got the demagogue they so desperately wanted and he got the adoration he so desperately craves.

Oh, I realize I am in despair mode and I said not to do that and I would work to heal this country after the election and I will do that. But right now, in this moment, I am so crushed by the choice America has made that I need a few days to process. I need some time to recover from this punch in the gut. I need some time to console people in my life who are hurting and afraid and fear for their country and their future.

So tread lightly Trump supporters. Over half this country does not support him or you and we are all feeling very raw right now. We are afraid. And as we have clearly seen in this election, people who are afraid make terrible choices they often live to regret.

1. After the frenzy he whipped them into (his supporters), I don't think we've seen anything like what

will happen when they realize they've been had and turn on him (assuming that they can figure it out; four years of zero promises fulfilled should do it, and hopefully let them revert back to the shadows).

Wishful thinking, but it's what I've got for now.

2. What a pity it was that Bernie fueled the "rigged elections" chant that Trump picked up and ran with

Just because primaries have rules and just because closed primaries exist doesn't mean the elections are "rigged" ... but Bernie planted that seed, and I think it ended up hurting the party and our nominee.

Our primary process isn't rigged. He knew that. He just didn't like that things weren't going his way so making accusations of "rigged system" is the same as calling one's (winning) opponent a "cheater".

So, because he was a weak candidate, his only option was to tear down his opponent and weaken the entire party. What a shame.

Hey, it's a "post-mortem" assessment. Not refighting. Accept it as the truth, or dismiss it as my opinion.

5. I am not blaming Bernie for this loss

I am blaming a fearful white America that harbored a false narrative about Hillary Clinton who chose, instead, a huckster who made himself appear outside the mainstream by being an unapologetic demagogue and fake strongman.

To paraphrase H.L. Mencken, the Republicans are going to give to them and give it to them hard. Gonna be a lot of people hurting out there.
