VERY CONFUSED ABOUT

the NSA right now. On one hand, the director Mike Rogers had been stating the election was hacked by the Russians. Now I'm reading Obamas intelligence leaders are recommending his removal and trump is considering him for head of the defense network in his administration.

Where is Shakespeare when we need him!

And the recommendation that President Obama remove him from leading the NSA was made prior to the election. Trump is considering him to head the ODNI, which is far bigger than simply leading a defense network.

but nothing in the story substantiates what the headline says. In the story itself, Rogers says that release by WikiLeaks of hacked emails was done by the Russians in an unprecedented attempt to influence the election. I don't think any rational person would disagree with that.

But that's far different than hacking the election, which would involve actually adding votes, changing vote counts, changing/adding registrations, etc.

It's a great headline to stir up the masses, but it isn't supported by the story itself.

But I think there is reason to believe Trump is trying to co-opt him much as he is Romney.

But since he obviously knows that the Obama administration (not necessarily the President himself) is pushing to get rid of him, why wouldn't he go over to the new administration.

The fact that he met with Trump without letting his superior officers know tells me that he knows the knives are out for him, and that he past the point of give-a-shit. Now he's just looking for a job.

And he should be removed for what he did, i.e., meeting with Trump without letting anyone above him know.

They are recommending his removal? I got bogged down in the bureaucratic chain of command discussion.

after Snowden...he didn't do such a great job, as another Snowden-type has recently been found from there.

Plus, in his current position, he's the head of two different things. There used to be the NSA, normally headed by a military officer. A few years back, they broke out and created a separate command, the US Cyber Command. For some reason I've never understood, instead of having the NSA have a civilian head, and the USCYBERCOM have a military head, they kept them both under the leadership of a single military officer. This is an opportunity to break them out from a leadership perspective.

Article in full he certainly doesn't sound very competent, or at the least is controversial. Why would Trump be interested in him?
