Now that the Santorum team has cornered the gay-hate market, they have to police every photo op to make sure Comedy Central can't hoist them by their own petard... or petar, as Shakespeare would have pruriently but much more appropriately spelled it.

That of course is a diversion of steadily dwindling resources for the Santorum campaign. Spending time, money, thought and effort on protecting themselves from the fallout of their own execrable positions is a great way to lose an election.

Now that it is known that the Santorum campaign fears such a thing, it's only a matter of time before someone figures out how to smear Rick with the pink brush at every opportunity. Which will be fun to see.

This is why candidates usually do not venture into acting as vilely as Rick Santorum has chosen to act.

... but yes, it won't take long for people to individually realize they can screw Rick's campaign simply by positioning one's self and then waving a pink handkerchief for the cameras--or a confederate's phone.

I expect it would be as easy to create an unorganized movement to "pink" Santorum as it was for the Lynndies to create an Internet cliche virtually overnight.

It's too easy to do, almost impossible to stop, will be a tail-chasing drag on Santorum's resources, and it will harm him further when it emerges that his goons are frisking photo-op crowds not only for weapons, but for a particular color.
