2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumTrump knew the election was going to be hacked.
That's why he suggested in the final debate that he might not accept the results if he lost. He knew that the media would go for the bait and demand that he accept the results. He knew that he would win, and that Hillary would be the one who would look bad, after all the hoopla the media made over his statement, if she challenged the results.
The election was stolen, people. There isn't much time left. Please see the following article:

and call the DOJ at 202-353-1555 to demand an audit of the votes in PA, WI, and MI. Nothing has ever been more important than this. Please call.

(4,187 posts)I saw your post last week. It was a great post. There are too many indications that the election was hacked. Please call the DOJ. I will call tomorrow morning. Calling works when enough people do it. If all DUers call tomorrow, it will send a strong message. We need this election investigated.

(5,417 posts)They are not going to launch an investigation because enough people call in. This isn't american idol.

(4,187 posts)People have a right to demand that their votes be counted and that everything is done properly. If you had read the link, you would know that there are oddities in the results that suggest that hacking did take place.
Thanks for the condescension, by the way. It has earned you a place on my ignore list, as I don't tolerate people who cannot make an argument without resorting to insults, personal attacks, or condescension. As it happens, I have never watched an episode of American Idol and had no idea that it involved making calls. Not that that's in any way relevant to the topic at hand.

(4,187 posts)Given that there are indications that the election was stolen, if there is no investigation, people will have even less incentive to vote in future elections. How can we go door to door and ask people to vote if, when their votes get stolen, no one will even bother to investigate?
The deadline to request a recount in WI is Friday, I think. We all have to call tomorrow.

(725 posts)"According to New York Magazine, a group of computer scientists and election lawyers are urging Hillary Clinton to call for a recount of the votes in Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and Michigan.
From New York Magazine:
Hillary Clinton is being urged by a group of prominent computer scientists and election lawyers to call for a recount in three swing states won by Donald Trump, New York has learned. The group, which includes voting-rights attorney John Bonifaz and J. Alex Halderman, the director of the University of Michigan Center for Computer Security and Society, believes theyve found persuasive evidence that results in Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania may have been manipulated or hacked. The group is so far not speaking on the record about their findings and is focused on lobbying the Clinton team in private.
Last Thursday, the activists held a conference call with Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta and campaign general counsel Marc Elias to make their case, according to a source briefed on the call. The academics presented findings showing that in Wisconsin, Clinton received 7 percent fewer votes in counties that relied on electronic-voting machines compared with counties that used optical scanners and paper ballots. Based on this statistical analysis, Clinton may have been denied as many as 30,000 votes; she lost Wisconsin by 27,000. While its important to note the group has not found proof of hacking or manipulation, they are arguing to the campaign that the suspicious pattern merits an independent review especially in light of the fact that the Obama White House has accused the Russian government of hacking the Democratic National Committee.
This is obviously a huge deal, but lets not get our hopes up."

(7,290 posts)Donald Trump, who've we've been told for the last two years is the most politically inept candidate ever nominated for the Presidency managed to beat the most qualified candidate for the Presidency ever in a game of 10 dimensional chess by accusing her of trying to steal the election so that she would say the election can't be stolen so that he could steal and she would have to be silent?
Seriously? If that's truly the case, and I don't buy for a second that it is, then he obviously isn't as inept and she isn't as smart as we've all been led to believe.

(4,187 posts)I am not even going to ask you to explain how such an "inept" Trump managed to win the Republican nomination. You've already made misstatements in your post (what Clinton said was not that the election cannot be stolen but rather that the candidates must accept the outcome of the election).
Welcome to ignore. And enjoy your time under President Trump.

(11,142 posts)Then, when he ends up winning, he could attack Hillary for being hypocritical if Hillary contested the result.
By refusing to agree to accept the results in advance, it would be harder to complain if Hillary did so.
is that it would look hypocritical for Hillary to not accept the results of the election now, after having criticized Trump for saying he wouldn't accept the results of the election if he lost.
Of course, it's not, in fact, hypocritical. There is a difference between saying in advance that one will not accept a loss, and saying, in the light of evidence, that the results look suspect and should be investigated. But that's a subtle difference for most people.
