2016 Postmortem

because it was fucking stolen.
Why did Trump pull out of all of those states?
Because he knew the fix was in.
Pretend.
Blame us.
Blame her.
Blame Obama.
Fall for the sucker bet that we are to blame for their theft.

(14,565 posts)It wasn't stolen.
I work our poll in one of the "swing states" that went to Trump.
It is and always has been very republican.
I was going by the polls going into it and felt that Hillary was going to win with 292 to 330 EVs.
We got absolutely slammed like we never have been slammed.
By 10 am our poll had more voters than any election other than BHO/Romney and at that point my get went into knots, because I knew Hillary was in trouble.
We ended up with over 900 voters. The BHO/Romney election brought 650 or so.
Our poll went 500+ for Trump, a little over 300 for Hillary.
A markedly greater margin than Romney had over BHO.
The angry white vote spoke this election.
And, I know people don't want to wrap their heads around this simple fact, but this is what this country wants and to be painfully honest, "Trump" is very much representative of what this county is right now.

(7,290 posts)people get all wrapped around the axe handle over the first, unofficial counts, which in elections where I've worked, always change before they are certified as official. Lots of insertion points for human error - when the counts are transcribed onto the call sheet from the tabulators, when the call sheets are called into the county, when the county transposes numbers or misaligns input during the calls, when the county puts the numbers on the web sites, etc.
This is nothing new, it happens every election.

(54,770 posts)We lost, as hard as that is to accept. The ignorant white wing racists came out of the closet for Trump. Now, let's get ready for the next election.
Thanks for your response. My late wife used to work at the polls. She loved doing it despite 20 hour days at times.

But, there was little to nothing that we could have done, because the angry white vote rang the bell.
Nothing we, BHO, Hillary or anyone else could have done to temper that hatred and mean spiritedness of this election.

(14,565 posts)I work a poll in a "swing state" that went Trump.
I came in following the polls, expecting Hillary to have a 290 to 330 EV win.
But, by got a knot in my stomach and knew Hillary was in REAL trouble by 10 am.
We got slammed immediately and at 10 am had more voters than any election other than BHO/Romney.
The most voters our poll had was BHO/Romney at 650.
We ended up with over 900.
Our poll is republican leaning and Trump had 500+ Hillary a little over 300.
Romney beat BHO, but by a much smaller margin, probably 50 or so votes.
Again, I felt Hillary was going to win but have countless posts here cautioning all of this "the republicans are on their last breath" thinking. I know the visceral hatred and rage within the white population toward the things we believe in and support.
I knew at 10 am election day that the angry white vote was speaking.
People need to understand what this country is before we can start to move foward.
This was NOT a "stolen" election.
Sorry.
And, Trump isn't the real issue, either.
It is the anger and hatred that lies underneath all of it, and is has been building for my entire adult life (three decades).
I don't know that the answer is, but I live in the reality of the country we live in, again have noted most of this for a decade or so here.

But really. Please proceed
Cosmocat
(14,565 posts)Yes, I will.
Point stands, angry white vote got out, "supression" in the form of 30 years slandering hillary to turn people against her.
The rs have full control of congress, far more governorships and control of state houses and senates, but sure, they "stole" the election.
