Joy Reid shared this on twitter this morning:
The Far Left Has Begun An All Out Assault On Identity Politics
The alt-left has begun an all-out assault on identity politics. It is an assault which started in earnest over a year ago, with Bernie Sanders candidacy. But it has since grown into a larger movement, with far left blogs and even New York Times columnists calling for the Democratic to stop engaging in identity politics. Make no mistake, this is a purposeful push to shut out minority interests in the Democratic Party. It is a call for a kind of racial triangulation that many on the alt-left believe would appease whites. Sanders has led the charge, going as far to lob the insult that It is not good enough for someone to say, Im a woman, vote for me. Not only was that a massive insult to Secretary Clinton, who had dozens of pages of policy proposals and was the most qualified candidate in modern US history, it was also a call to arms for other white people who felt the same way. Sanders is leading a group of white people who feel that the interests of minorities and women have become too prominent in the Democratic Party, and that their interests should be deferential to class interests.

(21,646 posts)Working class Blacks working class Latinos working class Asians or natives etc. affirming they are the 'others' whose concerns should be second rate and of least concern again. Backwards.
Gay and women's rights are a turn off to working class straight white males even though they are all working too so hush now.
Also stereotyping white males as all in need of both dominance and coddling simultaneously
Now that's progress huh?
Follow the pied piper down this narrow path and see where speaking out on actively marginalizing goes.
What was so wrong with Clinton's focus on all democrats concerns? Why did it anger these alt left people as a distractions and not seen as all building blocks to a stronger party?
Sure the overriding message They got from Clinton is I am a women vote for me .......well then, they were too angry to hear the other messages the rest of us did or didn't care to listen
and not voting for her really worked out well didn't it?

The sooner BS is in our rear view mirror the better off the Democratic party will be.

(82,383 posts)a majority of white people care about. Well they seem to care about maintaining their privilege and supremacy. We can't cater to that without violating our principles, which the Bernie voters were so big on. Maybe they are without principles that we agree with.
