2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumSorry, Hillary Clinton Fans. There's Zero Evidence of Election Hacking
The Daily BeastThe hackers would have had to begin their work in advance of the election. And in those states or counties that dont use electronic voting machines exclusively, theyd probably have to be on the ground, infiltrating elections offices, and working up to Election Day if not on the day itself. Throwing the votes in these three states on the same day would have required teams of people working in coordination with a high risk that theyd get caught, Becker said.
I dont know how youd plan for something like this even if you had George Clooney and Brad Pitt, he said, referring to the Oceans movie franchise in which talented thieves pull of absurdly implausible heists.
Even one of the computer scientists reportedly urging Clinton to call for a recount seemed to downplay the notion that hackers stole the
election for Trump.

Stein is in the perfect position to lead on this.

(15,805 posts)there might be insufficient evidence of computer hacking.
But our election process was damned well hacked by the Roberts' Supreme Court gutting of the Voting Rights Act.
Not to mention the instances of voter caging and the false "election security" of suppressive voter ID laws.
Computer hacking is only one component, it's not the whole thing.

It requires evidence, not phone calls or 'creative speculation.'

So suddenly the hackers from Russia had breached how many accounts before the election, but suddenly there is NO evidence there was hacking involved anywhere? I have a hard time believe the Daily Beast.

There are plenty of things to apologize to Mrs. Clinton for. This is not one of them.

(491 posts)Were this years deviations from pre-election polls the results of a cyberattack? Probably not. I believe the most likely explanation is that the polls were systematically wrong, rather than that the election was hacked.
Edit: Sorry, link is fubarred. You'll have to copy and paste it.

(15,512 posts)Yes, except when the officials are RWNJs. Basically Mr Becker is talking out of his ass and to check his reassurances the author phoned up a few election officials in WI, MI and PA who assured him that they would have detected any problems. Fine, but the fate of the world is hanging on the dubious results of their election systems so surely they won't object to having their tabulations audited?
Okay they will but let's take every possible precaution that the law allows eh?

(15,369 posts)I am not a "fan" of any politician, although there are several whom I supported. In 2016, I wholeheartedly supported Hillary Clinton.
Whatever the election result in the rigged and archaic Electoral College, I consider her the "winner" by more than two million votes! I will never accept Trump and will never - ever - refer to him as President. Period.

(9,527 posts)Of course given that he thinks there was a systematic error in the polls, when the national polls were only off by about 1 or 2 percent, I'm not inclined to give his analysis any further consideration.

No elections are rigged with voter role purges, ID laws the felon disenfranchisement.

The problem with a successful election heist is there is no evidence after the fact. That's the first thing you have to get through your head. We trust people to count votes, and machines, and code we can't read because a corporation owns it. And, never mind who owns the corporation, but their private business is more important than transparency. We are left with the numbers they report and talking heads telling us to move along whenever the numbers don't pass inspection. We are also left with the knowledge that under 100,000 votes, possibly only 50,000, decided the electoral college in any two or three of six key battleground races where the polling and exit polling was both rigorous and matched.
