"Chomsky told Al Jazeeras Mehdi Hasan theres a moral issue in voting against the greater evil ― Trump, in this case ― even if you dont like the other candidate. But he also said there was a factual question regarding this years candidates, pointing out Trump and Clintons very different records.
I didnt like Clinton at all, but her positions are much better than Trumps on every issue I can think of, Chomsky said.
Chomsky said in January hed vote for Clinton if he lived in a swing state, despite his support for Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), who ran against Clinton in the Democratic presidential primary.
Every Republican candidate is either a climate change denier or a skeptic who says we cant do it, Chomsky said. What they are saying is, Lets destroy the world. Is that worth voting against? Yeah."

Good work to those self-identified progressives who refused to vote for Hillary, you have just put at risk women's rights, civil rights, labor rights, environmental rights, etc.

(24,396 posts)When you say things like "I didn't like Clinton AT ALL," you are saying there is no way to cast a positive vote for her. Your only option is to vote negatively against Trump.
How stupid on Chomsky's part! He could have said that he found her positions worth voting for. Instead, he gives us the "better than the apocalypse" version of a non-endorsement.
And he'd vote for her if he lived in a swing state? First off, if you live in a solid blue state but spend your time bad mouthing Hillary it's going to be heard by people living in swing states who then vote against her. Second, you assume people know they live in a swing state. How many people who voted for Trump in WI did so believing that WI was a safe D State when it came to presidential elections? And third - Chomsky should look up the phrase "damning with faint praise."
PA, MI and WI were supposedly "safe."
