Most people aren't that stoopid... except those on the right.

The voters are wising up to their blatant misrepresentation in framing the issues/policies/positions of both Parties. No one who follows the issue closely is the least bit worried about "the cliff" - it always was a Republican scare plan, marketing to the sheeple to stampede against their best interests. Sure, lets let the rates go up for everyone...than have an up/down vote on tax legislation that reverts rates back to present levels for people making < $250K/year. I like the automatic cuts to Defense, too. The gutless wonders in Congress can't seem to break their addiction to bloated defense budgets.

Times could be tough for the Pentagon. In lieu of bake sales, here's a revenue generation idea for Dept of Defense: Start charging Big Oil for the Naval/Army "muscle" you provide to get their product to market. Should be treated as an operational expense, as far as I am concerned. That's gotta save them $200BB a year (plus insurance rate savings!). Stop subsiding Big Oil and let alternative/renewable energy play on a fair plane. There are a lot of jobs and future economic opportunity to change our strategic thinking on energy policy.

There was one Democratic yes vote for a while but when the final vote was counted there were none.

At least everyone in our caucus voted against that disgusting attempt to replace defense cuts with cuts to food stamps, Obamacare, Medicaid and Wall Street enforcement.

I'll bet Republicans are wishing they never signed up for this program. Going off the cliif may actual be the sane thing to do when considering the ridiculous funding levels that we throw at the Pentagon. The entire world would be happy to see a 30% cut in our defense budget.
