Up With Chris Hayes for starters. And Melissa Harris-Perry is also on MSNBC during that time period.

Yet the first female speaker of the House didn't get the same treatment.

that TV politics shows are a waste of time and shouldn't be the focal point of discussion. DU can lead by example here.

It's time for the establishment to face it. They've been left behind. They'll pontificate on why republicans aren't making head ground in most states and why the killing of Treyvon Martin has struck the cord it has.

Most of those in my age demographic (a diverse group that too) don't need insight from the cocktail circuit. Fuck them. I'm educated and well aware of the issues, but I don't need old white men telling me how to live my life. I'm still not sure which crowd is more destructive to this country - the chummy DC cocktail circuit crowd or the Wall Street crowd. I think it's the combination of them, but I despise the former more because I think we expected more from them. I thought they were "journalists". They're the enablers. The latter are just greedy fucks, and it's easier to excuse pure greed than sycophantic adoration from idiots like Cokie Roberts and others that talk a lot, but have absolutely nothing useful to say. Journalism is a joke in this country.

You haven't been paying attention:

We're back in the kitchen, doing what we're told,
cooking, cleaning, minding the good children,
driving everyone to church
and being perfect 50's wives.

We got the message frome the good, wholesome,
upright, righteous and true American Republican party,
and we are so sorry that we misbehaved,
thinking erroneously that we were equal partners
and citizens.

Next week we're renouncing the vote,
and buring our birth control.
It's obvious that we've overreached.

Isn't that the gospel according to the true American heart?

Look up the "Cult of Domesticity" on Wikipedia. That's what the GOP these days means when they want to "go back to the good old days."

So I haven't seen the Sunday talk shows in many years.

But I do get excerpts sent to me (or links to them, anyway), and the absolute BEST, most interesting,
most witty, most insightful show is hosted by an openly gay woman with the highest IQ of any host I
have seen on American TV: Rachel Maddow.

There is hope.
