1. The German Government sold their Postal Dep't to private enterprise some 10 years ago. Immediately

the price went up, and the services degenerated. And we know how efficient the Germans are.
I'd hate to think how far the postal service would degenerate if private enterprise took it over
in the USA.

We know that fewer people are writing today because more of us are using email. Why
doesn't the Postal Service simply increase the price to keep up with its expenses? We are
paying quite a bit less than Europeans are paying for sending their mail. If a private company
should take over, you can bet American mail would right away become the most expensive in
the world, and the least efficient!

Any time the price of a stamp goes up 1 or 2 cents the wailing chorus goes up, but if UPS or FedEx were even capable of taking on their job (they're not even close, even if combined) the price of a first class letter mailed coast to coast would be in the neighborhood of $10.

Are we really that stupid?
