(66,382 posts)He is resolutely non-political, and dislikes discussing political subjects. But at the end of our call, he asked me: "Now, I need to know: who did you vote for?" - As if he couldn't guess from my political leanings - I said: "President Obama, of course!"
He and his girlfriend burst into applause.
He thanked me, and told me he thinks President Obama is very charismatic (no argument here). He doesn't blame the President for the sanctions that are currently making life difficult in Iran right now. He remembers, as I do, that B*sh fucked it all up with his idiotic "Axis of Evil" bullshit; and that if it hadn't been for him, Iran and the U.S. might have much closer relations now.
I'm so proud to have Barack Obama as President right now. I love seeing the joy on the faces of people around the world as they feel the same. He isn't perfect, but if you hold your breath until we have a perfect President, you will turn a very disturbing shade of blue...

(22,897 posts)I had forgotten the many thousands of people in Berlin who came to hear him speak in 2008, and who chanted, "O-BA-MA!!" over and over. It was mind-blowing!
