don't let them sneak this past us
They will - and have already- put tea party zealots on school boards, city councils, county commissions and state legislatures, where they can do plenty of damage and build power to run for higher offices later.
Forewarned is fore-armed.
One thought: a recurring donation to a state or county democratic party. Even $5 or $10 a month helps them build the party. We have 2 years. They don't need a fortune, we proved that in November. But they do need money to function on.
Now is also a good time to become a PCP. There are many many many vacancies in every county in every state.

(14,255 posts)I went to one before the last election, and one of the two "non-partisan" candidates for the school board introduced himself to me and told me the school board seat was non-partisan but that I should check out his website to see how he was against gay marriage.
Very helpful! I would not have known that if I had just listened to his little speech. I cheerfully voted for his opponent, who had a pretty good agenda, and was happy when she won.
Actually, I don't much pay attention to the speeches, I would not vote GOP or anything else no matter who says what.
Speeches are only of interest during primaries, to me.
Question, though - is the seemingly obligatory, but totally uninteresting to me, declaration of lovely wife of whatever years and number of children just code for "I am straight"?
