Intramural Republican politics in Kansas could be behind the decision of the state's entire House delegation to vote against Hurricane Sandy relief Friday, making it the only delegation to do so.
Kansas' four House members joined 63 other Republicans in voting against $9.7 billion in additional funds for the federal flood insurance program, the first part of a $60 billion relief package for residents of New Jersey, New York and Connecticut impacted by the late October super storm. The rise in power of conservative Republicans in the state is being mentioned by some as a potential cause of the state's decision to vote against the package.

(3,709 posts)was my first response...but you know what...we simply cannot stoop to their lack of humanity. But it would feel good to punish their congress creeps...if there was only a way to do both. I just wonder if funds were kept from the people of Kansas or anywhere that these Republicans have been elected, would they understand that help was there but their own elected officials kept it from them?
The fact is these jackasses would be the first to yell for money for their state...but not for anyone else.

(2,522 posts)white, rich and poor were singing "God Bless America" and insisting that we are "One". Now twelve years later the gun blazing patriots have moved on and we could give a good damn about those that have experienced another catastrophe. So what did we really learn today? We will sit in a church pew filled with greasy red necks condemning that "inner city" whore for selling her body on the street but with the lights turned down in a Kansas wheat field, we'll do it for free--so who's more F@#&d up?
