This is MA. Republicans choose more moderate nominees than in other parts of the country (even if some of them lie about their true policies, eg. Romney).

If the GOP wants to have a chance at the seat, they will have to nominate a moderate and not a Tea Party extremist.

But can Weld run anyway? Not sure if he has the residency requirement since he just moved back to the state, right?

Markey- Frontrunner/establishment candidate- Capuano/Coakley voters.
Lynch- Blue Collar alternative- Capuano/Brown voters
Leone- Law and Order alternative- Coakley/Brown voters.
Taylor- Sacrificial Lamb alternative- Khazei/Pagulica voters.
In the general election.
Lynch or Leone voters have potential of voting for Kerry Healey.

Regarding the Governors Race-Coakley-D is not running but Brown-R is undecided, Potential candidates on the Democratic side includes Setti Warren and Steve Pagulica.

Seems like he may have alienated some of his supporters by backing out and leaving them high & dry.

GOP Primary- Favored or Tossup against Baker.
GOP Ticket will either be Brown/Polito- the modern Cellucci/Swift or Romney/Healey. Baker/Tisei.
Democratic Nominee will be either Grossman or Capuano or Berwick or Pagulica.
DEM Ticket- Grossman/Bump (the establishment), Capuano/S. Warren(progressive establishment), or Berwick/Pagulica are the fiscal conservative democratic alternative or wildcard Lynch/Leone- the social conservative democratic alternative. Lynch or Leone will have no other options for higher office. Both US Senate seats will be held by Warren/Markey then will be succeeded by Joe K Jr. and Setti Warren. Leone cannot run for AG because of Coakley.

Grossman or Capuano defeats Baker but is in a Tossup against Brown.

For the US Senate 2013/2014
Markey-D vs Healey-R.
If Healey-R were to have a surprise win.
Will we see a Patrick-D vs Healey-R rematch (2006 MA Governors Race) assuming Markey-D does not want to seek a rematch.
