Huge DU thread concerning the father who killed his kids in front of his wife today.

Fucking awful story......Some were pointing out that why should DU responsible gun owners who understand and agree with most of the restrictions and backround checks which are currently being discussed, be lumped
into the same sphere/world of the insane and criminally minded.

It is my feeling that one day the United States will have gun laws very similar to those of England,Germany, France etc. That the needs and wants of the minority should not overrule what the majority desires with regards to gun control. This will eventually happen, because of stories like the one linked below will become commonplace and will be reported on much more throughly. I am convinced that as the population changes and the old school 2nd amendment right people start to disappear due to natural causes, the consensus will be for more and more gun control. Its gonna happen. People are gonna eventually say, “enough is enough”.

Responsible sensible gun owners do not strap the weapon on their back and walk in public. Responsible fathers does not control their family with weapons, a responsible father protects his family.

As an ADULT, married, woman, I feel that I am perfectly capable of defending MYSELF, and my children, who have grown into adulthood with just ME majority of time. I am adult woman ALL ALONE far more without the defense of my MAN. I don't like this attitude. A woman is defenseless without a MAN, or a GUN? The majority of women survive today well into adulthood without big, strong, MEN, and without GUNS.

What century are we living in?

The responsible argument can never work. In order to take guns out of the criminals/insane you have to take the guns out of the population..

This bothers me, too, and I've never even touched a real gun in my life.

But in order to fix this horrific problem, one has to think in absolutes....

outside of the local area they occurred. I have moved around a lot in my life (63 times before the age of 40) and every place I have ever lived has had this sort of thing. And with the exception of England, Germany and Japan every one of these incidents have involved a gun. I would also add in only one instance was the perpetrator female, and in only two was it a teenage male child not husband/boyfriend, ex-husband/ex-boyfriend and/or father.

stuff like wife and kid beating, killing/beating the pets in front of the family, threaten to kill..all the things an abuser does to terrorize and control should not be misdemeanors in most states.

felony record at the least, in most places means NO GUNS.
