Scott Brown: 'I'm not dead'

By MANU RAJU | 2/6/13 6:13 PM EST

Former Sen. Scott Brown wouldn't say Wednesday whether he's considering a run for Massachusetts governor in 2014, but he suggested in an interview that his political days aren't quite over. "I'm not dead," he told POLITICO when asked whether he'd help the Republicans win the Senate seat vacated by John Kerry.

Brown announced last week that he wouldn't run for that Senate seat, something he said he reached because of the grueling nature of successive campaigns. But he predicted he would have won this year's special election had he run, despite losing to Elizabeth Warren last year.

"People forget I did a state Senate run, then the special, then the general, then it was a special, and then I would have won that, then a general again," Brown said in an interview in the Capitol Wednesday. "It’s too much."

Asked if he would jump into next year's governor's race, Brown demurred.

"I’m not going to comment on any future races at all. I’m just focused on doing some things that I’m very excited about," said Brown, a member of the Massachusetts Army National Guard who was wearing a military uniform. "That’s it."

He's running for gov. Otherwise, he wouldn't be giving interviews in his real 'murican outfit (previous versions included his Carhardt (?) jacket and good ol' pickyup truck).

Usually you're governor first, then you run for the Senate.

Centerfold Scotty is already a loser! He needs to just give it up.

Governors stand a better chance of being elected President. Except for President Obama, every other President (except Poppy bush) since Carter were governors. It's been considered the most job like being President for its executive experience.

That said, I doubt Snotty will ever be able to withstand a rushpublican presidential clown car demolition derby...and I think he's smart enough not to even think of jumping into that fire. However, I do see him running for Beacon Hill in two years....and hopefully gets squashed like a bug on the windshield of his phony truck...

one runs to be a governor before a U.S. senator, not the other way around. More often than not, U.S. senators don't run for governor unless there's a compelling reason, like Ted Strickland running against John Kasich.

It's usually Governor---> U.S. Senate

or

Governor----> President

not

U.S. Senator----> Governor

...went from the Senate to Governor, but I understand what you're saying. Generally Senator is a more prestigious position in the federal scheme of things and among the media. My former Senator Adlai Stevenson III (not his dad who ran against Eisenhower) tried to run for governor after he left the Senate and I wouldn't be surprised to see Russ Feingold do the same in Wisconsin in 2014. A lot has to do with the aspirations of the individual...some find it very cozy in the Senate...others get bored and look for a new challenge.

Cheers...

Scotty is still a loser. I believe that he didn't think he could win back that seat, despite what the polls say.

His election to the US Senate was a fluke, a puff of wind on history's windshield.
His expiration date has come and gone.
