Holy Crap!! Why is the tea party getting an opportunity to respond to the POTUS.

Can someone explain why? Are all the majors carrying the response? If so I’m amazed that there is absolutely
no blow back by Dems.. Please someone explain..

What do they stand for? What's their platform? They're been *around* since 2009 and I still don't know what they believe, what they want, etc. All I know is that they hate President Obama and basically have projected all of George W. Bush's mess on to him- and that they are a bunch of anarchists here to basically blow up government (and the GOP).

Isn't it rich?
Are we a pair?
Me here at last on the ground,
You in mid-air..
Where are the clowns?

Isn't it bliss?
Don't you approve?
One who keeps tearing around,
One who can't move...
Where are the clowns?
Send in the clowns.

Just when I'd stopped opening doors,
Finally knowing the one that I wanted was yours.
Making my entrance again with my usual flair
Sure of my lines...
No one is there.

Don't you love farce?
My fault, I fear.
I thought that you'd want what I want...
Sorry, my dear!
And where are the clowns
Send in the clowns
Don't bother, they're here.

The question is whether the networks will cover you. In the case of the Tea Party, they will because, as much as we like to belittle it, it remains a potent political force which influences Government decision, AND because it reflect an ongoing divide in the Republican Party that is newsworthy.

And, for what it's worth, have you forgotten that Michelle Bachmann gave a "Tea Party" response in 2011?

First let me ask, who owns the Teabagger society? And who owns all the major media outlets?

One answer, the corporatists or plutocrats or oligarchs or whatever you want to call them, they own it all so they get to call these shots. It won't end until they think it's a waste.

you could say they lost in spite of their efforts because they were so cock sure of their ability to steal another election that it didn't matter who these clowns were so long as they were a warm body in a Congressional (and White House) seat with enough brains to hold a pen or press a "vote" button. All the policies are pre-written for them by the lobbyists so they really only had to show up. It wasn't hard to recruit people of that low a caliber to agree to run on the ticket because of the ownership of all the facilities they thought would pay off for them... and the perks that wold pad their pockets.

All he and the Koch Brothers and their legislative exchange organization (ALEC) needed was a compliant Congress to hammer out their "model legislation" and somebody allied with them them in the WH who had enough working digits to sign them into law. Of course, they vastly overestimated their ability to win in November- with a lackluster candidate for POTUS that nobody in the GOP *really* wanted and Senate candidates that didn't know how to keep their mouths shut about rape and women. In the end, despite all of the money they poured into the race, it wasn't even close.

I don't know if you watch The Daily Show, I do online, but he had an interesting guest on last Thursday night who was involved in oversight of the bank bailout of 09 and he's written a book about it. His comments are astounding to say the least and make you realize that all the darkest imaginings you might have had about that whole debacle are really true. All I could think of afterward was, I knew it... so what do you do when the conspiracy theories are reality?

Sorry if it ruins your sleep but you should probably watch it at some point. Everybody needs to be awake for this.

Which reminds me of an old trucker joke; Leroy and Jethro get a job driving truck together as a team. All through the vetting process whenever Jethro was asked a question he'd say, "Well I'll just ask Leroy, he knows everything!" After a time the examiner was getting annoyed and so he got more complex in his questions and asked Jethro one more question; "So tell me, Jethro, if you were traveling down a steep mountain and the brakes weren't working and Leroy was sleeping in the bunk, what would you do then?" Jethro replied, "Well I'd have to wake up Leroy." The examiner asked him, "What for?" Jethro says, "Well I'd have to wake up Leroy cuz he ain't never seen a wreck like the one we're gonna have!"
