Will H.R. 499 Ending Federal Marijuana Prohibition Act ever be seriously considered?
As you know, the federal government has simply ignored and, in some very atrocious instances, defied the will of the majority in states that have legalized Marijuana.
Anyone who has done serious study and research on the subject knows, as we began to realize and learn in the 1960s, that Marijuana has negative effects on only about two percent of users, and is in fact a very beneficial herb in many respects.
I urge you to contact your representatives in Congress and ask them to consider and enact H.B. 499.
To give you some "ammunition," in case you are not knowledgeable on the subject, I recommend an article titled The Plant of Renown, which approaches the subject on both religious and scientific grounds.
For example, it explains why and how Marijuana was called the Plant of Renown by the prophet Ezekiel, and why the Hebrew University has confirmed that the oil from its seeds was one of the ingredients of the "anointing oil" used to anoint Jewish Mashiachs (Messiahs) and kings.
It discusses the history from that point to 1937 when the U.S. made it illegal, in spite of ample evidence revealing that was a bad idea. And it still is a bad idea, because as the article states: "Just as Prohibition of Alcohol in the U.S. in the 1920s was counterproductive and produced an enormous organized crime wave, so has the Prohibition of Marijuana. So its time to face facts."
