Marco Rubio Is Taking a Spring Trip to Israel (Sound Familiar?)

Marco Rubio has to shadow everything the President does these days. The potential Republican 2016 hopeful was the official State of the Union rebutter earlier this week. On Saturday morning, Rubio announced he is embarking on week long trip to Israel, just like the President.

Rubio (and his wife) will travel to Israel and Jordan over the next six days on official business of the Senate Intelligence and Foreign Relations Committee. (Don't worry, she's paying out of pocket.) Rubio plans to meet with King Abdullah in Jordan, and President Shimon Peres and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to talk about "various areas of mutual interest, including the Israeli-Palestinian peace process," in Israel.

It's been a little more than a week since the President announced his own spring trip to Israel. It will be the first time he visits the country since becoming President. For Rubio, this previously unannounced trip will be his second time visiting the country.

Was supposed to have been strictly a personal vacation.

Newly elected Sen. Marco Rubio and his wife, Jeanette, are meeting billionaire businessman/Jewish community leader/political pot-stirrer Norman Braman, his wife and her sister in Israel next week.

Braman was an early Rubio supporter and said they have talked about going to Israel together for years. He stressed that Rubio was paying his own way. It will be his first trip to Israel.

"I was hopeful that it would come about win or lose,'' Braman said. "Marco and Jeanette are religious people."

(snip)

The Rubio camp was mum on what it called a "private and personal visit to the Holy Land next week. There will be no official meetings or media interviews, and specific details of the trip will be kept private. Senator-elect Rubio is also working with pro-Israel supporters to make an official trip back to Israel early next year after he is sworn into office."

Maybe in another 20 years, but to me he comes across as a rank amateur -- a child with childish thinking.

There are Republicans that do have some gravitas, but Rubio isn't one of them -- not even close.

He's not exactly a clown like Palin, Bachmann or Cain, but he just doesn't seem to have any weight about him.

I'm not feeling it.

Because it took all the attention away from the fact that everything he said in that speech was moronic. He got off easy. But he's still a moron, so there will be another day to show that.

Remember, Sarah Palin never got any brighter either.
