Race isn't the GOP's only demographic problem

There has been a lot discussion about the GOP's impending demise due demographics changes going in the country, but most of that of has focused on race. I think religion could be just as big a hurdle for the GOP. If you look at the Romney coalition, it got 40% of its votes from white evangelicals. First, they have declining numbers, they only make up 12% of people 18-29. But the bigger problem may be what they believe by almost any measure they're the most anti-gay and anti-choice of any religious segment. A recent poll showed they believe far more than any other Americans their values should dominate.

The GOP got a plurality of it's vote from people as Barry Goldwater described believe they are acting in the name of God, so they can’t and won’t compromise. This is not recipe for outreach to new people want to they reach. Already far right groups like AFA have come out against immigration reform. One the hand easy it's to laugh at their misfortune tying themselves to these crazies. But the tea-vangelicals have they're shown their willing to 'Thelma and Louise' the country in the name Jesus.

In the 1960's Republican tired a being minority decided the reach out southern Dems upset and it paid off for awhile. But now these people are an albatross around their neck. It'll be interesting to see how this plays out over the next decade. How long will the Wall Street crowd suffer these people before they decide they're not worth the effort?

These so-called "Third Way" or "New Democrats" always give the Repukes a helping hand, when they deserve a boat anchor.
