Ryan’s New Budget Repeals ‘Obamacare’

PEMA LEVY 9:43 AM EDT, SUNDAY MARCH 10, 2013

Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) said Sunday that the budget he will introduce next week repeals health care reform because that under 'Obamacare,' "we think it's going to look very ugly over the next couple of years."

Appearing on "Fox News Sunday," Ryan explained that his budget is based on the assumption of repealing 'Obamacare' and replacing it with a new system. His budget also reforms Medicare for those currently under 55 years of age.

"Are you saying, as part of your budget you assume the repeal of ObamaCare?," host Chris Wallace asked.

"Yes," said Ryan.

"Well, that's not going to happen," Wallace said.

Ryan Defends Medicare Plan: ‘It’s Not A Voucher

PEMA LEVY 9:53 AM EDT, SUNDAY MARCH 10, 2013
House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan (R-WI) on Sunday defended his plan to reform Medicare for those under 55 years old, a plan that he has pushed in his budgets for years and which he will continue backing in the budget plan he will release next week.

"It's not a voucher, it's premium support, which is very different," Ryan said on "Fox News Sunday."

Ryan explained that under his plan, senior choose from a list of guaranteed coverage options, including traditional Medicare, and that Medicare would subsidize that plan. The subsidies would cover the entire cost for the poor and less of the cost for wealthy seniors.

Ryan argued that despite being attacked during the campaign for wanting "voucher care,"the issue didn't hurt the Romney-Ryan ticket in 2012. "We won the senior vote," Ryan said.

So just maybe neither "side" should count on me, based on my age or gender or location.......
I wonder if/when the seemingly inevitable chained CPI "fix" (fix, my ass) will be hailed as brilliantly bipartisan because the seniors "always vote GOP anyway".

All my friends my age (little tiny bit less than you) are liberal - likely that is self-selecting because I wouldn't hang out with conservatives.
But a scary thing is to look at the size of the Meetup.com groups that are actually tea party groups, in this area (Florida). Look like mostly 20's - 40's; group names like proud patriots, whatever. Some groups have 300+ members. Looks like the liberals are just having meetups about books and yoga - the tea party is ORGANIZED.

But IIRC they weren't going to touch Medicare for current seniors so Ryan's claim of equating the senior vote to an approval of his plan to change Medicare is disingenuous.

Seniors may have voted for RR but not because of Ryan's plan.

News flash for Republicans: Obamacare will not be repealed so long as the man you named it for is still in the White House. So you can quit fucking around and do something besides trying to repeal it.

Ryan is hoping that the repubs can convince the populace that Obamacare is what is going to hurt the economy in the near term and obscure the republican driven sequester from the public view. Let us not get complacent and assume our countrymen can make appropriate connections. Lets keep them informed .
