2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumArizona's Latino voters overwhelmingly Democratic, overwhelmingly opposed to AZ's immigration law
Now 30% of Arizona's population and 18% of it's eligible voters:
Kerry 53% to Bush 44% in 2004
Obama 56% to McCain 41% in 2008
then Arizona's Immigration Law (SB 1070) happened:
Arizona Senator: Rodney Glassman (D) 78% to McCain (R) 22% in 2010
Arizona Governor: Terry Goddard (D) 85% to Jan Brewer 14% in 2010
Latino voters on the Arizona Immigration Law (SB 1070): 81% oppose to 16% favor
Making enemies of the Latino population is alienating them from the Republican party and seeing this happen is turning a lot of Anglo voters against Republicans because many of us are seeing this as the scapegoating effort that it is.
