GOP Attorney General Warns Dems Pose Greater Threat In Texas Than N. Korea

DAVID TAINTOR 2:37 PM EDT, TUESDAY APRIL 16, 2013

Texas' Republican Attorney General Greg Abbott on Monday warned a GOP crowd in Waco, Texas that Democrats pose a greater threat to the Lone Star State than North Korea's young leader, Kim Jong Un.

From the Waco Tribune-Herald:

Abbott also weighed in on Battleground Texas, a group formed by veterans of Obama’s presidential campaigns hoping to make Democrats more competitive in Texas, where the party hasn’t won a statewide election in nearly two decades.

“One thing that requires ongoing vigilance is the reality that the state of Texas is coming under a new assault, an assault far more dangerous than what the leader of North Korea threatened when he said he was going to add Austin, Texas, as one of the recipients of his nuclear weapons,” Abbott said. “The threat that we’re getting is the threat from the Obama administration and his political machine.”

1. How can a AG get away saying something like that. He is so suppose to represent the people.

He's right. I think North Korea is pretty much just full of hot air and bluster while democrats do actually pose a threat - to the republicans, and the fact that it's happening in Texas which has been so republican-friendly for so long is causing them some sleepless nights.

I'm a little worried about the backlash that's going to happen when the synapses start burning in the brains of republicans - all over the country and not just Texas - when the "threat" becomes more prominent and then when Texas does go blue. We've seen how far they're willing to go to hang on to power - voter lists, disenfranchisement, attempting to change how states award electoral votes, etc.

as to make one wonder if and when one or more of those expressing such hate will ever blow their stack by acting out their hatred.

his hip. Will he shoot someone? Based on previous conversations I've had with him, I have no doubt he is fully capable of doing so.

Frankly, I think we're still a decade away from being competitive in statewide races, but it's nice to know that Abbott knows we exist. For those who aren't familiar with him, the TAG has his eyes on moving up if our Governor-For-Life ever decides to retire.
