Ann Romney has designer store close for four hours so she can shop privately

Ann Romney’s Private Shopping Struggles

I cannot imagine the pressures political candidates and their families endure during a campaign, and I despise the fact that many news outlets exploit candidates’ families, even children. So I sympathize with Ann Romney’s preference to shop privately at the posh Fiandaca store in Worth Avenue, Palm Beach, which was closed for her shopping needs for four hours last Saturday.

Certainly it helps to be friends with the designer-owner Alfred Fiandaca, and I would have done the same thing if one of my friends were a possible first lady candidate. He just wanted his dear friend to shop in peace, without those pesky interruptions from the onlookers.

Of course I am sure the other customers who had to wait patiently –and some not so patiently- outside of the store- for four hours that Saturday, did not mind. After all, it is the Worth Avenue and one must know their worth to be able to shop there.

This surely is in stark contrast with the image of “everyday folks” Romney campaign is trying very hard to convey about Romneys. Mrs. Romney looked nothing like a “struggling homemaker” while privately shopping in that exclusive store where the prices start as little as a weekly salary of a middle class working woman.

I can shop for an entire new wardrobe in less time and they can leave the stores open.

The store is probably pretty small, so the Service would have just closed the place.

As for the four hours part...Ann Romney wears dresses that cost more than my last three cars (combined), and with that much scratch on the line you ARE going to make sure everything is exactly right.

Ann Romney is a Republican Wife, which means she can spend a thousand dollars on a dress and still look like shit in it.

On the other side, Michelle Obama can go to any store in the mall, pick any dress off the rack and look like a million bucks in it.

Michelle knows how to pick em. Ann couldn't pick the right one even if a fashion designer gave her just one dress.

For real? 4 hours? For clothes?
I know some shoppers are picky at times, and some transactions are difficult. BUT, 4 hours???
I would have gotten tired after 2 hours.

if you modify the colors, designs and intended use, lol. For example, the first one could be a costume for a halloween party. The neon chartreuse thingie could be a cute sundress if you modify the colors to less eye-painful and lose the jacket.

As is? FAIL. EXPENSIVE FAIL. All of them.

Somehow I don't think peon-version knock-offs will be appearing in Wallies or Target any time soon.

But, I don't see her in them any time soon. Definitely NOT her style.

I agree about he other dress, too. Tone down the color and ditch the jacket. I kinda like the orchids. Make it pale yellow or white, and you'd have something there.

I can only imagine why. But I don't understand it. My parents ran into a famous NY Times editorial writer in their local diner, and praised him while he ate. No problem.

Also high profile celebrities.

It is fine for the high rollers to go to these boutiques, and for the owners to shut the door to other customers. Big effin' Deal.

Oh and there are these people called "Personal Shoppers". Your average "welfare mum" isn't going to be taking advantage of their services anytime soon.

But to relate to us, sometimes it takes walking a mile in that person's shoes. I don't believe that Mrs. Romney has taken that walk yet. Mrs. Obama on the other hand... I can relate to her more easily. I can even relate more to my Queen (Queen Elizabeth II) than I can Mrs. Romney.

common also are "trunk shows" - the stores will bring clothes to you at home.

I think this is good for people to see. Many folks have no idea how massively wealthy the top 1/10th of the top 1% is ... and I'm sure we all have ideas as to how that money could be better utilized. Health care for all anyone? Or is it more important for Ann to have a million dollar wardrobe?

I'd like to hear of her experience shopping at a store like Lohman's where the dressing room is one large community dressing room (for women).
