Chickenshit

That's Chris Christie

Chickenshit.

I really don't care who he picks to replace Lautenberg, that's the priority of a governor. When senators die governors pick replacement and there is always a chance it'll be someone from the other party. Maybe that's something voters should have remembered back in Nov 2009 when they elected Christie (or didn't bother voting) - whomever won the 2009 election may very well decide who would replace Senator Lautenberg who was already in poor health and aging.

I was grateful that Christie picked someone who wasn't going to run. Makes sense to me and keeps it fair.

But I find it total Chickenshit that Christie would rather waste millions of NJ taxdollars holding an early general election for this special election then just doing the easy thing and adding it to the November 2013 ballot. Christie knows how NJ voters work - they'll turn out in droves for big elections like governors or even very popular mayors of the largest city in New Jersey, but these off year elections tend to favor republicans because yes, republicans are more reliable voters than democrats. Christie figured he was doing pretty well with his response to both Hurricane Irene and last years Superstorm Sandy; hell he even finally got that phone call from his idol Bruce Springsteen (thanks to Obama btw). Christie figured not only would he easily win re-election but hopefully with him being the most popular person on the ballot that he could switch some of those competitive state house & senate seats up for election from democrat to republican (maybe even swap one of them from democrat to republican control).

But Christie knows the facts. There hasn't been a republican senator since the 80s (and I think that one was a special pick by the governor). And that Newark Mayor Cory Booker is looking to be one of the strongest candidates in the field to win the Democratic Primary for Lautenberg's old Senate seat. And if Booker doesn't win it could be US Rep Frank Pallone, another very popular democrat. Thing is either of those candidates but ESPECIALLY Cory Booker could mean higher turnout of voters and high voter turn out will ALWAYS FAVOR THE DEMOCRAT! A Booker or Pallone on the ticket may help the democrats defeat Chris Christie but it will pretty much guarantee that the NJ House and Senate stay democrat controlled.

So what does Chris 'The Chickenshit' Christie do - he runs scared. Better to guarantee no Booker or Pallone on the Democratic Ballot at his (Christie) November election by moving the special election for Lautenberg's old seat back 4 weeks, in October. Not even on a Saturday or even a typical Tuesday but on a Wednesday to boot. And btw special elections aren't cheap - that means millions of taxpayer dollars to host this extra election. I mean you need 2 to replace a senator (primary and general) why not save money and do the general during the regularly scheduled election. Instead Christie is CHICKENSHIT - too scared to put someone popular on the ballot and willing to waste NJ taxdollars to ensure it goes his way.

CHICKENSHIT - Look it up in the dictionary and you'll see Chris Christie's face
