The temptation of power

I never ran for office. I don't know how many DUers have been holding elective office. I have no idea why a person decides to run for office. Ambition. Ego. Desire to do good (one hopes). Desire for power.

And the sexual power has been used by people in power since days of... yielding power. And until recently, by people who were not elected, who did not have to answer to anyone.

No, we do not have the hypocrites who claim "family value" while cheating on their wives.

But, why, oh why, do so many of our more intelligent and well meaning office holders think that they can get away with unzipping their pants?

Gary Hart, Bob Packwood, Bill Clinton, Eliot Spitzer, Anthony Wiener, Bob Filner (the mayor of San Diego).

And, except for Filner who is twice divorced, all wives stayed.

chuck my sorry ass aside so fast it would probably break the sound barrier.

And I wouldn't blame her in the least.
