Today, at the memorial held for Helen Thomas at the National Press Club in Washington, Sam Donaldson told of four memorable questions Helen Thomas asked of sitting presidents.

Number three, for example, was when Helen asked Bush Lite about the Iraq invasion, reminding him that he had said it was not about oil. Since the WMD and the Al Qaeda connection and all other justifications they had offered were phony, what was the REAL reason we had invaded Iraq?

But the fourth question, said Donaldson, would have been asked by Helen's ghost about the shutdown and the Republicans, as she was not able to pose it in person: "Mr. President, when are you going to tell them to go to hell?"

That brought down the house (and the room was PACKED). I'll post about the memorial later on when I have time.
