(19,926 posts)8,750 employees of Wright Patterson's (?) Air Force base put on leave for estimate $5mn/day loss of salaries.
Air Force Museum closed. WWII vet and family denied entry to see plane he once flew.
Day use park closed.
Non-federal agencies affected.
Home purchase loans in danger of not closing if shutdown continues another week.
Citizens speaking:
Man #1 - "Spoiled children responsible, the spoiled children are the Republicans."
Man #2 - "Bunch of jerks running the show up there and it's not fair."
Irene Boebinger - "When Boehner ran he said he was a man of the people... since he's been in Washington it just seems like sometimes he goes completely the other direction. It's like the Hatfields and McCoys fighting all the time. Get your act together."
Back to reporters:
Moderate Republicans supporting a bill that does not make changes to Obamacare. It would likely pass and end the shutdown, but for now the Speaker of the House is not putting that bill on the floor.
As Bohener walks away from reporters they are asking him... will there be a default? Why not bring a clean CR to the floor?

(13,992 posts)Rep. Boehner has been carefully gerrymandered into a lifelong gig (unless a Tea Partier defeats him in the primary).

(1,957 posts)It has always bothered me that somewhere along the line some guy who represents a couple hundred thousand people, elected by a third of that number,
suddenly is placed into a position where he can determine the destiny of issues which affect hundreds of millions all across the nation.
And it gets even worse where somewhere along the line this moron from bumfuck ohio has suddenly become the boss of hundreds of representatives from all over the nation.
Sorry, Ms Susan Brooks...you work for ME! Not some asshole from Ohio.

(45,523 posts)Come on, I know how badly gerrymandered that district is but we need to find somebody to run against him in 2014. I'm hoping he gets primaried. This is ridiculous. His constituents have probably had enough by now.
