Mitt Romney says government workers are paid too well and in general government is a bad thing. But he wants to run it. Romney made his fortune by buying companies, laying off the workers, and keeping the money they were making for himself. He apparently thinks everyone but the 1% are paid too well. So maybe that's the plan.
In his "victory" speech Mitt Romney declared that if elected, "We will stop the unfairness of government workers getting better pay and benefits than the taxpayers they serve." The American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE) President John Gage had a few things to say about that,

(24,416 posts)Frankly, as far as I'm concerned, hating government should automatically DISQUALIFY somebody from running for government office. I mean, what other jobs are there where a potential employer would be willing to hire somebody who flat-out says they hate the job they're applying for? What would we even think of employers whom were willing to do this?

1) To destroy government from within.
2) To take from government for personal gain. Or
3) Some combination of 1 and 2. There are NO other logical reasons.

(8,224 posts)The guy working part time at the convenience store for minimum wage, or the wealthy business owners and bankers they regulate? My guess is that Rmoney means the former not the latter.
(BTW as full disclosure, I do make more than most taxpayers in the area I serve, but I "serve" as many as 2.3 million of them, when they call. Fortunately only a few need my assistance most years.)
