"Romney aides say they're going to turn Obama's cool against him, " Yeah, good luck with that.

Romney Aides: Obama Is Too Cool
In Washington, Romney's top advisers gird for the late-night wars.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Mitt Romney likes a good late-night laugh as much as the next presidential candidate — but he draws the line at slow-jamming the news.
That's what the candidate's senior advisors said at a live forum Saturday hosted by the Washington Post. Eric Fehrnstrom and Peter Flaherty, both top strategists in the Romney campaign, joined the chorus of Republicans who have dinged President Obama this week for his appearance on Jimmy Fallon's show — where he delivered a short stump speech on student loans while The Roots provided a groovy R&B soundtrack.

"I do think there was something a little bit off key about the president slow jamming, or appearing to make light of" the student loan crisis, said Fehrnstrom, "I don't think that's something to slow jam about."
In fact, he said, if Romney had received the same offer from Fallon, he would have declined.

-snip-
While Obama clearly comes off cooler on camera, the Romney campaign isn't so sure that will translate to likability this time around. Privately, the Republican's aides admit the president is more hip than their candidate — but one also noted that most voters are "more clunky than cool."

-snip-
Of course, they're not confident enough in that bet to hang their chances on it.
This election is not going to be about who's cooler," said Romney advisor Peter Flaherty. "The question is going to be about who do you trust to run the economy."
If it does come down to coolness, though, the campaign appears to be hoping for a revenge of the nerds.

Attack him on his strengths. Thing is there's a whole new crop of voters who weren't 18 last time Obama won and I see nothing wrong with Obama working to appeal to them. You have to get their attention first.

I would tell the Rmoney campaign to really hammer Obama on how cool he is. There are a lot of people that still don't know how cool Obama is. Of course many are getting the message now. But, with Rmoney's help maybe he can get the message out about Obama's cool factor faster.

Once people find out how cool Obama is, they'll flock to Mitt. I can see it now.

His stack of briefing papers, and , especially, his 10 letters from "the real America" every day. Then a few seconds of a football coach running game film, or a NASCAR crewchief (really, the car chief) putting the finishing touches on his setup.

As the mother of a 24 year-old young lady, I can say that she and ALL of her friends believe that voting Obama/Democratic is cool and that Romney/Republican is not. And as a 53 year-old, I can say that ending that stupid Iraq war and supporting women's rights is pretty damn cool, too!

The problem with his type of cool is that he can't muster anything more recent than from the British colonial period. And that is considered stale as 30 day old milk stored at lukewarm temperature.
