We don't need to demonize the right. We need to defeat them.

And the way to accomplish that is clearly, persistently, publicly advocating for Democratic policy positions. At the local, county, district, state and federal levels.

Solution oriented approaches that speak to a large part of the electorate. That includes Independents.

We don't need to demonize the right. They seem to be doing a pretty good job at demonizing themselves just now.

We have to both propose sane sensible policies that make life better for everyone and make it absolutely clear what that they are proposing is vile, bigoted, frequently insane, almost always stupid, and makes life worse for almost everyone. If we speak out, they demonize themselves. If we shut up, if we pretend that they are not vile bigoted idiots, we provide a veneer of acceptability to the unacceptable.

(They don't seem to have any actual positions other than fear mongering, which is a good talking point). So, I'm not saying we ought to stay quiet - we ought to counter them as the adults in the political room.

Admittedly a rather conceptual idea, yet I think "vile, bigoted idiots, insane" comments are likely counter productive. Even tho' true in many instances. I'm reaching for a way to make that clear without hyperbole or an echo of their own tactics which only seem to be resonating among their extremist factions. And fracturing their party.

I guess I'm advocating that we pursue a course that allows them to be hoisted on their own petard. While we make our case.

that believes in Democratic principles, we need to convince more people to vote against them; see to it that the citizens are allowed to vote; and finally, see that the votes are counted.

We would greatly benefit from a climate in which nobody wanted to self-identify as 'a conservative' for fear of seeming to be a person of, shall we say, diminished capacity....

"Republicans are people, too --- mean, selfish, foolish, bigoted, evil people."
