2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumAm I wrong when I state.. That the T.M. speech tonight was a typical Dem. victory lap..?
Nothing new.....a shout out to Coochinelli with some come together crap.. Perhaps he could have pointed out the huge differences between Dems. and repubs. which need to be discussed and resolved before we get to the point of
mutual agreement.....Come shake it up a little dems. This bi-partisan shit does not work any more..
We need new battle strategy..

We need to take advantage of the situation which never would have happened w/o insane T party crap..
T party winners in 2012 sure did it and it worked... In the end their stupidity killed them.
We are not stupid... Take advantage..and fast..
Only my opinion..

(13,570 posts)governance. Look, we all despise the rotten TeaBaggers, but there is a practical balance between camapaigning and actually governing. Like it or not, he has a House of Delegates that is GOP, he had some high profile GOPers endorse him, and has to work within that political reality. VA is purple, and he can't be effective there as a far-right D. Look at Kaine and Warner. Moderates. That is the political reality in that state. Gotta govern, not just campaign once in office. And he has to work with an R House. Sucks, but that's the way it is.

(42,768 posts)McAuliffe, running as a bi-partisan moderate (with that characterization backed up by campaign appearances by no less than Bill Clinton) with advertisements featuring repubs who supported McAuliffe on that basis, and with folks holding their breath in absolute terror that he might lose to a repulsive tea partier, is thrown under the bus before he finishes his victory speech.

(24,347 posts)That he won at all is nothing short of incredible, as he's an awful human being with shitty political instincts. Virginia got a choice between abjectly horrible and less bad.
