during World War II, presumably because these loyal Americans might cause sabotage, someone pointed out to the general in charge that no sabotage had taken place.
His response?
"The fact that no sabotage has taken place is very ominous."
The double-think that is required to fit reality into one's erroneous internal narrative is staggering...
