FBI Searched Home Of Iowa GOPer Tied To Bachmann And Ron Paul

FBI agents in November executed a search warrant at the home of former Iowa state Sen. Kent Sorenson (R ), The Des Moines Register reported on Wednesday.

Sorenson resigned from the state Senate in October, after a special state investigator found that he had violated legislative ethics rules when he took money from campaign committees connected to Rep. Michele Bachmann's (R-MN) failed 2012 presidential bid. Sorenson served as Bachmann's Iowa state campaign chairman before bolting to support former Rep. Ron Paul's (R-TX) presidential campaign.

Sorenson lawyer, Theodore Sporer, told the Register on Wednesday that FBI agents on Nov. 20 took computers and other materials from his client's home.

“We were not notified that he was the target of any investigation,” Sporer told the Register. “They took computers and things that would be used to verify or validate communications with presidential entities.”
