2. more like why did the BLM let him rake up fines, get away with illegal use for 20 years?

His was the last ranch out in that county, Bundys 150 acres is adjacent to miles of our federal public lands. The BLM is supposed to check and maintain our millions of acres of public lands. The BLM has field offices in that Nevada county.

I guess the BLM just 'ignored' 900 head of cattle and the massive grazing damage they create, on our fragile desert public lands.

7. That is a good point. a lot of the leadership in our DOI/BLM have been in those jobs for many years.

The Federal Gov. should make them switch internal DOI job positions to shake-up any internal favoritism/special 'favors' over the people/corporations they give permits/public land leases to.

though this all apparently started around the time that Republicans took control of Congress and militias started popping up everywhere. Waco and Ruby Ridge were fresh in everybody's minds too, so I imagine that all that contributed to the lack of desire by the BLM for confrontation.

10. The horror of this isn't Cliven Bundy...

Bundy is little more than a parasite, just another right-winger sucking off the government teat while wanting to take benefits away from everyone else.

Bundy isn't even the real issue here. The real issue is this 'militia' that is now detaining people, asking for papers and 'exercising' rights they DON'T have. The scary thing is the government needs to act with a gentleness these ignorant cretins do not deserve, or else we'll have millions of them crawling out of the woodwork courtesy of the NRA.

My own inclination would be to call out the REAL militia, the National Guard, supplement them with a battalion of regular army, roll in the tanks, bring in the Apaches and mop up the ground with these traitors.

Fortunately, I'm not the one in charge. I'll be interested in seeing how Obama plays it. He's a pretty smart man. I'm wondering if he'll do the same thing with these extremist clowns that the government did with the OWS movement, which is to ignore them until they get 'fatigued' and leave.

But, those TANKS look really tempting, since there are over 1,000 (at $5.5 million each) just sitting in the NV desert because the Army doesn't need them and won't use them. Heck, they could break them in...some haven't even been driven yet!
